Author’s Comments
The Quest for the Second Half is my wife’s favorite of the first four Superkid adventures. I wrote it nearly a year after #1: The Mysterious Presence, and in retrospect, I can see how my writing ability grew between the two novels. This was the first novel where I really got to explore Paul’s history and play with Missy’s personality. It was quite fun to write.
Secrets
- The original draft of this book had a dramatically different ending than what was finally printed. To find out what the original ending was, read Missy’s suggestion on page 104.
- Mr. Fifopolis’ nickname, Fiffer, was actually my nickname when I was a toddler. I couldn’t say “Christopher,” so “Fiffer” was all that came out. To this day, my aunt still calls me “Fiffer.”
- Note that Paul finds a picture of “Shea Brown” on page 67. Just before printing, I was able to squeeze in this reference to Mashela, who doesn’t appear until novel number four.
